Blackites perlongus (Deflandre, 1952) Shafik, 1981

Description: Rhabdolith with a tall, narrow, club-like (claviform) spine that is not as broad as the coccolith rim. The rim is usually relatively narrow and the outer cycle is significantly smaller the inner. Some specimens have a collar at the base of the spine.

Remarks: Like Blackites herculeus but has a narrower, and often taller, spine; the two species probably intergrade.
