Nannotax Enabling nannofossil research

This is a mixed group of nannofossils that cannot be assigned to either one of the four heterococcolith orders or one of the five nannolith families. It includes:

Heterococcoliths

• Family Alisphaeraceae (Alisphaera, Canistrolithus, Polycrater)
• Family Umbellosphaeraceae (Umbellosphaera)
• Hayella
• Ilselithina
• Tetralithoides

Nannoliths (or possibly modified heterococcoliths)

• Florisphaera
• Gladiolithus
• Minylitha

NB The genus Neosphaera is now known to be produced during an alternate life-cycle phase of Ceratolithus.
