Helicosphaera intermedia

It is usually reported that Helicosphaera species with disjunct bars are extinct in the late Miocene. They are fairly common in the Gulf of Mexico into NN 13 (Early Pliocene).  I also saw them there in the South Pacific from ODP Leg 135.  I usually call them H. rhomba.
