Hughesius gizoensis

Hughesius gizoensis Varol, 1989

Description: Small species of Hughesius (<4μm), with 2 plates in central-area, separated by transverse suture.

Remarks: A very widespread small species, occurs in most Miocene samples although rarely at high abundance. The Oligocane species Coccoithus primalis Roth 1970 is similar and arguably a senior synonym.
